The Beyond Light expansion for Destiny 2 was groundbreaking in many ways.

One of its most noteworthy innovations was the introduction of new subclasses utilizing the previously unheard-of Stasis element. Unlike the original elemental subclasses, Stasis subclasses possess additional customization options: Aspects and Fragments. By unlocking and activating Aspects, Guardians gain unique passive bonuses or active powers. Aspects also allow them to slot in Stasis Fragments that provide smaller passive buffs for various powers. Read on to learn all about Stasis Aspects and how to acquire them.

Aspect Basics

Aspects take the form of items that Guardians can equip to access their benefits. Only two Aspects may be equipped at any given time. Since Aspects are unique, they cannot be duplicated on the same Guardian. While the missions that unlock the four Stasis Aspects are the same for all classes, the actual Aspects vary by class. Their function ranges from upgrading existing abilities to creating new effects. Additionally, each Aspect has a number of Fragment slots that may be filled according to your preferences, customizing your Stasis-wielding Guardian further.

Aspect Prerequisites

The Season of the Lost has greatly simplified access to Stasis Aspects. The first requirement that must be met before you could begin unlocking them is finishing the Beyond Light storyline. Then, you could initiate the Born in Darkness questline by speaking to Exo Stranger on Europa. As you progress through that questline, separate quests to claim the first two Aspects will appear.

The questgiver shall offer two further Aspect tasks once Born in Darkness is finished. Note that you will require Salvation’s Grip to progress through any of those missions. To get the gun, talk to Zavala and Variks to unlock post-campaign Europa quests, then undertake a quick Exotic quest.

Initial Aspects

The first Aspect Quest you will encounter is called Aspect of Control. It becomes available after the completion of Born in Darkness, Part One. The Salvation’s Grip weapon is necessary to crush five of the Entropic Shards found in different places throughout Europa. Once that is done, return to where the Guardians fought Eramis and vanquish all foes in the area. Here are the Aspects one could receive there, depending on their class:

  • Hunters: Shatterdive (Accelerated descent that shatters frozen hostiles on landing);
  • Titans: Cryoclasm (Enhanced slide that shatters nearby frozen foes after hitting one of them or a Stasis crystal);
  • Warlocks: Iceflare Bolts (Freezing projectiles that spawn after an enemy is shattered and automatically seek out further hostiles to freeze).

The Aspect of Destruction quest works similarly, but requires the fulfillment of the entire Born in Darkness questline and then crush nine shards. Once you have defeated the final test in the same place as before, you will gain one of those items:

  • Hunters: Winter’s Shroud (Evasive maneuver that slows foes in a short radius);
  • Titans: Tectonic Harvest (Shards spawning upon shooting crystals and charging up your melee);
  • Warlocks: Frostpulse (Rift upgrade, freezing hostiles in a shockwave).

Season of the Chosen Aspect

The Aspect of Influence quest begins with another shard hunt inside the Well of Infinitude. After all those targets have been eliminated, complete any Exo Challenge with Heroic difficulty. A prize shall await the winner at Europa’s Ziggurat:

  • Hunters: Grim Harvest (Shards that spawn after eliminating targets under Stasis movement debuffs and charge up melee);
  • Titans: Howl of the Storm (Enhanced slide that enables a freezing wave on using a prepared melee attack);
  • Warlocks: Bleak Watcher (Stasis-firing turrets deployed from grenades).

Season of the Splicer Aspect

The Aspect of Interference quest works the same way as the preceding mission. The only difference is that both targetted shards and tough enemies will be found in Kell’s Rising. Afterwards, claim your reward:

  • Hunters: Touch of Winter (Upgrades to all Stasis grenades, raising effective radius and creating extra crystals);
  • Titans: Diamond Lance (Throwable lance that freezes foes, made by defeating enemies using Stasis powers);
  • Warlocks: Glacial Harvest (Shards that spawn after suspending enemies with Stasis and charge up your melee).

Conclusion

The Aspect system has proven very popular among the community. It supports various fascinating synergies and gives players more control over their character’s combat style. Stasis Aspects have been instrumental in the new sub-classes’ PvP dominance, though it has since been disrupted by nerfs.

While the Season of the Lost has brought no new Aspect, developers have hinted that future updates would expand this system to other elements as well. In the meantime, if you need help with those quests or any other demanding PvE activities, reach out to CakeBoost and we will see it through!
