OnePlus is set to unveil the OnePlus 5T today at an event in New York. The company will announce the OnePlus 5T, which is going to be the flagship Android phone from OnePlus, around 9.30pm India time. The new phone will be the successor to the OnePlus 5, which was launched in June in India, and is expected to have a similar price.

Ahead of its launch, the OnePlus 5 has been subjected to several leaks, some of them quite detailed and almost everything except the price is known about the phone. From the specs and features, the OnePlus 5T looks like a bigger update to the OnePlus 5 than the OnePlus 3T was for OnePlus 3. It comes with a much larger screen, a few design tweaks and possibly improved camera performance compared to the OnePlus 5.

To coincide with the launch, OnePlus is holding several launch events for media and its fans across India. The main event is in New Delhi, which also involves OnePlus 5T launch event being live streamed at PVR Chanakyapuri. OnePlus fans will also be able to watch the event in some PVR cinemas halls in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

OnePlus 5T specs and features

As noted earlier, almost everything about the OnePlus 5T has been leaked. The phone is going to look like the OnePlus 5 but with two big differences. One of them is the screen. The Oneplus 5T is set to sport a FullHD 6-inch screen, which has an aspect ratio of 18:9 similar to that of screen in LG V6, LG V30 and the Pixel 2 XL. This is also a fairly bezel-less screen, which should help the OnePlus 5T look a more modern and striking phone. The fingerprint sensor in the OnePlus 5T moves to the back cover.

Just like the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T too is going to sport a metal body. It is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, will have up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, will use either Android 8 Oreo or Android 7.1 in its Oxygen OS. Chances are that the Android 8 Oreo will be inside the OnePlus 5T but in case if it is still the Android 7.1, the OnePlus 5T users will get the Oreo update within weeks.

The OnePlus 5T will come with a dual-camera setup on the rear. That is something confirmed. But what is still not confirmed is the configuration of two cameras. Reports hint that OnePlus 5T will come with a different camera setup compared to what is there in the OnePlus 5. Whereas OnePlus 5 uses a zoom lens as a secondary lens, the OnePlus 5T is expected come with two cameras that will have identical wide-angle focal length. Leaks suggest that these lenses have a focal length of 27mm. Reportedly OnePlus is doing that because it is putting F1.7 aperture lens in both cameras so that low-light photography is better. The main camera in the OnePlus 5T is likely to have a 16-megapixel image sensor whereas the secondary camera will use a 20-megapixel sensor. On the front the OnePlus 5T is likely to have a 16-megapixel camera.

The OnePlus 5T is likely to sport a 3,300 mAh battery. It will also come with features like Dash Charging, dual-SIM support, regular 3.5mm headphone jack and portrait mode.

OnePlus 5T possible price and how to buy

The only thing confirmed about the price of the OnePlus 5T is that it will cost under $600. This is something the OnePlus CEO and con-founder Pete Lou confirmed while replying to a fan on a Chinese social media site.

But of late, there have been several leaks and hints that suggest the OnePlus 5T will have the same price as the OnePlus 5.

In India, this means the OnePlus 5T will possibly have a starting price of Rs 32,999. This will be for the 6GB variant with the 8GB version costing Rs 37,999. This also means that the OnePlus 5 will be either discontinued (strong possibility) or will get discount.

OnePlus 5T event time and how to watch it live

As noted earlier, OnePlus 5T event will start at 9.30PM India time. Some people, who have bought a Rs 99 ticket for it, will be able to watch the OnePlus 5T even in a cinema hall.
